  Young Professional Seeking Friendship
  Hello! I feel a tad silly doing this, but I figured, "What the hell!" and decided to submit an ad, anyway. I will tell you a bit about myself, first. I think three words sum me up pretty well: passionate, dispassionate, but compassionate. I am very whole-hearted about my pursuits, and try to give each of them as much of my effort and presence as I can. This was probably the driving force that kept me going when I pursued my MD/PhD degree. The scientist in me values logic and recognizes the power of reason over fickle emotion. Yet, this doesn't mean that I fail to be moved by what is beautiful or poignant (yes, I'm a closet romantic). Out of shyness, I keep to myself a lot; those who come to know me better get the occasional deadpan aside or some other piece of curmudgeonly humor. I am 29 years old and I am in a medical specialty program that will preoccupy the next few years of my life. Physically, I am 5' 11", 170 lbs with blackhair and brown eyes. I enjoy lifting weights to keep muscle tone and running to keep my cardiovascular system to last me another many more years to come (don't we all hope for this) but, other than that, I am "athletically challenged." I cannot exactly be sure what I am looking for. I don't particularly care for clubs because I am *not* into the gay scene at all. I like to go dancing once in a while, but I dislike the smoke, loud music, and beer associated with the scene. I'm totally out to my friends but not to my family. I like to think I am well adjusted and happy as a young gay professional. What am I looking for in a friend? Someone who embodies and appreciates the qualities I have, but who can also be quite t he opposite at times: brash, adventurous, opinionated, a down- to-earth, big-lug kind of guy. May be serious and silly at turns, but have a big heart; gentleness with strength is a huge turn-on for me. Physically, I prefer a clean-shaven guy, 23-38, who is robust, athletic, outgoing, a good kisser and cuddler. Mainly, have an interest or talent or job or hobby or something that you really care about -- none of this "whatever..." mindset. I'm definitely looking more to make a friend than BOYfriend; besides, it is relatively easy to make the transition from vanilla friendship to a full blown relationship. While open to many kinds of music aside from the classics (jazz, 70's and 80's pop, alternative, gospel), I admit to being in need of education in some other departments (country, 90's pop, showtunes); no John Tesh or Yanni fans, please. Movies: I'm a sucker for almost anything with subtitles. Food: Almost anything and everything authentic. No MSG please. Sports: I've recently begun to atone for years of sloth in medical school by returning to a long-lost discipline of swimming and weight-training six days a week. Love all racquet sports. Other: I like to tinker, to be handy around the house and car (without doing too much heavy lifting or getting too dirty), enjoy reading all manner of things, and will enjoy more traveling once the student loans are all paid off. I dearly miss opportunities to have a decent chat over a few beers; coffee is also OK (and is not synonymous with sex for me). Dislikes: television addiction, bitching or whining (as opposed to kvetching, which is OK), passive-aggressive behavior.
